Artist Statement
I am a New Jersey-based artist with a current focus on creating figurative abstract art through oil paintings. The figures are portrayed in the shape of lines and geometric shapes while showing color gradients on the paintings' subjects and background. The line work on my subjects is erratic and unrefined, prioritizing the raw transmission of an idea over anatomical accuracy.

I am influenced by geometric confines and void-like spaces, highlighting the tension between the fluid human spirit and the rigid, transactional structures and systems that seek to contain it. Other inspiration comes from Caribbean naïve art due to my maternal heritage, and the reconfiguration of the human form as a way of depicting the weight of lived experiences.
My work seeks to capture the psychological weight of the figure by portraying the anatomy not as it appears to the eye, but as it feels to the spirit: distorted by emotional and societal pressures vibrating with an unsettling, vehement energy.

(TL;DR: I'm a New Jersey-based artist currently creating distorted figurative oil paintings. My work explores identity and the psychological erosion of the human form within late-stage capitalism.)
